A sebil continues the tradition of leaving water in someone’s name. It is usually commissioned as a hayrat — a charitable endowment — and set inside a cemetery or at its entrance, carrying the name of the person it commemorates, the word “sebili”, and a year.
The fountains we build are set on a white marble body with a dark granite face and basin. Columns and a cornice frame the sides; the water trough and drain sit below. Dimensions and form follow the place it is going.
The inscription is laid out on the face of the fountain to suit the dimensions of the stone. Emblem and name placement are agreed at the start of the work.
